I hope my international background will add a new perspective of thinking to the organizations I interact with and be beneficial to their continuous improvement."
XIN (LILY) PENG
"During my time thus far at UT Arlington, I have had the pleasure of acting as a graduate student consultant for a Dallas-based financial firm where I assessed employee attitudes within the organization. Through this experience I was able to hone my problem-solving tactics and analytical skills as well as gain very valuable first hand experience working in the I/O world. I recently obtained an internship with Leadership Worth Following, and I am looking forward to matching my I/O coursework with more practical and applied experiences. I am particularly interested in the realm of organizational development, organizational change, and training and development."
"During my time at UT Arlington, I have worked on projects assessing employee attitudes, coaching leaders, developing and presenting workshop materials, and other projects that have helped me learn to be an asset to any organization. In particular, I am interested in organizational development, human resource strategy, and performance management. I have now been interning at Assess Systems for nearly a year and I look forward to continue learning more about the field. Ultimately, I hope to enjoy a career in which I work everyday to improve the lives of employees everywhere."
"I am interested in pursuing a career as a consultant working with organizational change and development. Specifically I am interested in employee work life balance, and want to strive to make the work environment one of satisfied, productive employees. I participated in a project on assessing employee attitudes in the workplace on their perceived organizational support, communication, and perception of justice. This project reinforced my desire to want to help organizations and employees learn to work better together and form a mutually beneficial relationship."
"After completing an undergraduate degree in Psychology and while working, I was able to develop some helpful materials to create a more efficient workplace. For example, I developed an employee handbook (with a team), realistic job previews, an onboarding process, and training material. While at The University of Texas at Arlington, I’ve been able to continue learning with hands-on projects through the I/O Psychology Center. I was able to work with a team that was tasked to obtain the current state of information technology on campus. During this project, I was able to moderate, co-moderate, and input data for focus groups that were conducted. These projects were incredibly satisfying because it was evident that people and their work environments were being impacted in a positive way, and I hope to continue and improve with the skills I’m learning in the I/O Master’s program."
"Since beginning the I/O program in 2011, I have been a part of many projects through The Center including research on adult and e-learning for a local consulting firm, a job analysis and performance appraisal redesign for a wireless management company based in Austin, and an employee attitude survey and feedback engagement at a local financial management firm. I am currently a Senior Associate Consultant at Leadership Worth Following, LLC, a position I was connected to through the I/O Center in early 2012. In my role at LWF, I am a member of the Core Consulting Team, delivering services in executive assessment, coaching, and feedback tools. While I continue to broaden my experience in applied Consulting Psychology, I am also pursuing research in measurement methodologies within the field."
"I am currently a first year graduate student in the Industrial Organizational program at The University of Texas at Arlington. I received my BA in Psychology from The University of Oklahoma. After my first semester in the program, I have learned how the field of I/O is truly vast and fascinating. Currently, I am interested in leadership development and employee wellness. During my tenure, I hope to identify my key interests and procure extensive knowledge and mastery for each one. I am serving as an intern for The Industrial & Organizational Psychology Center, and I continue to search for diverse learning experiences in addition to my current role. When I am not studying, I enjoy watching Oklahoma Sooner football in the fall, discovering new music, and playing outdoor sports, especially soccer. Even though I love my time here in Maverick Country, I will forever “bleed Crimson & Cream. Boomer!”
"I am a fifth year Ph.D. student in the experimental psychology program with an emphasis in I/O psychology. I have conducted several team, communication, and workload studies during my time at UTA. I have worked on several grants, and my lab has been working on a large grant from the Department of Defense, which will continue to be a large project at the university. I am interested in statistics, workload, and team communication, and would like to continue working in those areas of study. I have completed my Major Area Paper and will begin work on my dissertation project soon.”
